...so back to Aldi, exactly how many people shop there? I'm sensing a growing trend.
They manage to get me in-store every couple of weeks with their Thursday and Sunday specials, but I don't buy any of their food or drinks. Thus far, Aldi have managed to flog me the following. Toaster, Angle Grinder, Glue Gun, Thermal Underwear, Rechargable Batteries, SD Memory Card, Mains Inverter, Car-Tidy bags, Car Boot Liner, Damaged Screw Extractors... and some more stuff that I've forgotten about by now.

I've managed to find an almost totally road-free route to my local Aldi, so it's actually quite a pleasant trip to make. If they keep on doing their specials, I'll eventually succumb to their loss-leader strategy and buy some of their other stuff too.

We went through a similar stage to you Jim just going in for the specials. It slowly grew into getting our Deli stuff from there as it is german and good quality. the 59p veg and fruit is very good too but the shelf life is not usually as long as you would expet at tesco. Bread sucks and is often past its best by day one. sliced gruyere cheese is excellent as is much of the other cheeses. Cant get baby bel though and my daughter cant survive without it. berrs and wine is excellent in particular the german lagers are superb:). My wife now uses the q10 face creams which have won numerous magazine tests and are only £1.89. She used to use olay effects at £12 a go! Its amazing t difference you notice at the till and we seemed to spend around £50 for a weeks shop. At tesco it always seems to be nearer £100.

The bike stuff is excellent. my long trousers with insert are great even in the coldest of weathers and are totally wind proof. gloves and socks have been very good too. Track pump failed after 2 weeks and went back! sun glasses have been really good and have three changeable lenses - clear, yellow and smoked.

PS. think i,m hanging on to the trailer.

Erm, I'd say Grumpy1 is an alter-ego of wotwozere... *groan*
Erm....I'd say you're wrong. And what do you base your expert knowledge on? Because I don't like somebody calling me a thickhead on here? Or because I post late at night? With deduction skills like that maybe you should consider a career in the police force.

yes we have been here befor as every time they do some good deals on bike bits someone pre warns everyone....exactly how it should be too.....:) thanks eddieo....
No offence intended to Eddieo and certainly not intended as a rebuffal. Just that this exact topic had been well covered the previous week. I know because I already had the date in my diary and, oh yes, it's still on screen as "Lidl Cycle Clothing 2009" from Seataltea. Small wonder it got hijacked.
