My town, Falkirk, is in the middle of a nice big new project, part of which is loads of cycle paths. some of these paths are allready constructed, they're about 9 feet wide and smooth and flat, with street lights.
On Saturday I took my 7 year old Grandson to them. Now an E-bike is a bit of an overkill in such a situation so I cycled with it switched off. We sat at about 6 or 7 mph and being on the flat it was a totally different experience to my normal power level 5 rides.
So, I've been thinking about a couple of things: Do I need to go everywhere flat out and more importantly. Living in Holland must be quite nice.
My nice VDO bike computer tells me we did 4.5 miles and only climbed 55 feet in total. My average climb was 1% and the maximum was 3% and that was a short climb at the end.
I must spend more time down there.
The Helix - Falkirk, Scotland is where it's at.
