Lights failure

My eZee Forza lights failed last night as I switched the battery off. I think there was a flash from the front light (as I would not have noticed otherwise). I immediately switched the power back on but neither light would work. It was dark so I did not look closely at the lights until this lunch time. The rear light seems to contain two square flat bulbs permanently fixed to the circuit board. The front light bulb is a screw threaded seven LED cluster. There is no indication of wattage or voltage. I cannot see if any of the "bulbs" have failed.

The bike is two years old but the wiring appears still to be in good condition. This is the first lighting problem I have had.

The failure could be due to a bulb failure, an electrical fault (at the switch on the power indicator or in the controller?), or a wiring fault.

It looked like a fuse failure, or when one bulb blew it also blew the other. Has any one got any ideas as to how I would find out what the problem is?

Unlikely to be a lamp failure because it is a problem affecting both front and rear lights. The most probable common mode failure is the Dash Panel with cables and built in light switch. Apparently the dash panel has no user serviceable parts so you might need to replace this unit.
Opening the unit to have a look and possibly do a continuity test will degrade its IP rating to the extent it will not be so water/moisture resistant, however given the unit will probably need replacing it is probably worth the risk. It is quite likely that the internal contacts of switch just need cleaning. While it should be easy to test continuity of the switch contacts at the crimp connectors, it probably is impossible to reasemble the switch if opened.:(
Perhaps it is possible to buy an equivalent switch from Maplin to get things working?

Dash Panel

Thanks for the advice

OnBike are open tomorrow so I will see if they have a switch I can buy. My experiece has been that it is worth travelling quite a distance for expert help (thanks again Tiberius) so I might be off to Kidderminster on Saturday!

There have been reports on the vulnerability to shorts of the wiring on this eZee system some while ago. The front and rear light LEDs are wired in series across the full battery voltage and the thin wiring and other points within the headlamp area can be shorted to earth accidentally. That causes a wiring failure as maximum battery current discharges through the thin lighting wiring. The run from within the battery meter housing down to the headlamp and the run from the throttle mounted switch to the battery meter are the most likely to fail and in a bad case the insulation melts off the wires. I haven't heard of the switch itself failing but that's also possible of course.

The LED "bulbs" should be ok and repairs to the wiring and/or switch should get the lights working again.
