I recently bought a Mule Trailer.
I looked a child trailers but noticed they all had canvas bottoms.
The mule has a wooden bottom and is well made.
It attaches to the back wheel nut, which can be a problem due to the electric wires.
I drilled out the rack mounting holes and bolted the bracket to the frame without disturbing the wheel.
For security I ditched the quick release pin that holds the trailer to the bike and replaced it with a sold padlock (stops the trailer from being stolen when parked at Tesco's).

I got mine from Bike Care.

The advantage of the child trailer over a normal trailer is that its mutlipurpose. You could easily re-inforce the bottom with a bit of plywood for heavy loads. The halfords child trailers seem good uns and fall in the same price bracket.

Dont know if you have friends\relatives with young Kids, but if so then a child trailer could be useful (picking up from stations\ family rides etc).

PS Trailers are discussed monthly on CTC. Type trailers into the the search and watch the info appear. You'll find a lot of detail from very experienced trailer users.
