A subset of the Outdoor Show - next to London Boat Show.

At very short notice given the relatively low stand prices, we have decided to exhibit. I notice Spencer Ivy, Batribike, EBCO and Freego will also be there. For us it will be a bit of a taste it and see for future exhibitions. We are not really ready, but preparing at three days notice was a good stimulus to get us moving after Christmas!!!

Any Pedelec afficionados going to be there?

We will be offering free mandarins :D while stocks last.

We are taking about six bikes and demonstrating two. In particular, we are showing off for the first time our iPhone / iPad wireless interface to our proprietary eBike controller via a virtual CANbus - sort of cool, and pregnant with future possibilities. And yes, it does involve an "App".....

Would love feedback - do come and introduce yourself.

Cheers

Would love to see the 'virtual CAN bus' in operation (the engineer in me got far to excited about the idea). How does it work? Via Bluetooth?

Do you have an Android app in the works?

Aha. Another engineer!!

Bluetooth is a problem. The short and best answer is no.

Actually we set up a wireless network and each bike in the shop has an IP address. Fun indeed!

We can see what each bike is doing - trivially for example if a brake is actuated, or where the battery is at in a charging cycle.

Android app in the works, although the iPhone app on the iPad looks great and will be displayed at the Show.

More interstingly, we can access bike memory and see where it has been and what has happened to the bettery.

When someone takes a bike uot with an iPhone in their pocket or on the handlebar mount, loads of real time data - including GPS, cadence, temperature, V, A, braking, WH consumption, height - is recorded and can then be mashed into Google maps and shared with other users.

Hope this is clear. The future or the lame wanderings of a deluded 54 year old with a new iPad toy.....

The image link in the editor usually does the trick - though sometimes it refuses and you might have to try it a few times...

Have you seen this? Android powered cycle computer.

So it's CANbus over IP! I would have thought that bluetooth would be perfect as you could in theory send the CANbus signal straight over a serial port (with some tweaking).

Does the iphone holder also charge the phone? My biggest concern would be that Wifi on smart phones eats battery.

Either way this is some cool stuff.

I use a little device called a Pebble (about £45) to give my smart phone the extra power it needs. Android ap on the way.....

What if the picture I want to put in line is only on my laptop not on the web???

It has to be on the web somewhere. I haven't looked to see if this site has an uploader for pictures. Any that I link to are either on the web already or I use my own web space.
