A little about me! I'm mid-fifties and have cycled for pleasure the last 4 years starting with a road bike, then hybrid and in recent months a front suspension mountain bike. I ride mainly on cycle paths and light gravel trails of various gradients ( i live in Northumberland and its hilly!) Over distances up to 40 miles.

Recently I borrowed a Haibike Sdruro and loved the electric bike experience. This was due to the fact that I struggle with hills due to dodgy knees and the electric assistance made each hill a pleasure.

My budget is a max of £2500 but would prefer to keep it under £2000. I want a mountain style bike as I find it more comfortable and one with an achievable range of 60 miles plus.

The Haibike Sduro trekking is tempting me but it's towards the top of the budget.

Any other suggestions please as this is a significant purchase for me.

Thanks

You might find an open frame bike nicer than a mountain bike; depending on the quality of the cycle paths and trails, and how aggressively you ride. Something like Cube Hybrid Touring (https://www.cube.eu/en/2019/e-bikes/trekking/tour/touring/cube-touring-hybrid-500-greynorange-2019-easy-entry/ ) or Raleigh Motus, Or save yourself a lot of money and go for Woosh Santana http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?santana-cd or Rio http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?rio-mtb (but step through version of that seems to have gone).

Thanks for the responses so far. All appreciated and given me some options. I do prefer the MTB style to step through.

I've looked online at the Cube Acid Hybrid one 2020. From what I have read the 2020 motor has reduced range compared to 2019. Is that correct?

A little update. By chance, a local guy was selling his Giant Dirt E+2. It was immaculate so I bought it! I'm cycling on routes I would have previously avoided such as a 6-mile route mainly up steep hills for 3 miles. I'll do further range exploration soon once the weather improves from all this rain in the North East!
