Hi there

I"m looking to buy a folding electric bike.

Ideally I'd like it to have lights front and back, suspension (front and rear of possible), a UK three pin plug on the charger and have 20" wheels. Probably in the £1000 price range.

Can anyone make any recommendations?

Many thanks
James

If you say what you will be using it for we could give a more targetted answer. What sort of range do you need? All on road, simple off road, more serious off road? Do you expect to use lots of assist, or just want some help? How hilly is it around you? Do you expect to be lugging it round a lot (into car boot, upstairs to a flat, ...)?

A bit over the £1000 and only front suspension, but you'll get a decent quality bike and excellent customer service.

Also look at https://www.e-bikesdirect.co.uk/electric-bikes/folding-electric-bikes/ to get an idea of the kinds of bike available. They have a wide range and decent prices, I've never shopped there but have seen quite a few positive comments about them, and anyway their catalog is a useful reference to get an idea.

Suspension on cheap bikes is often not that worth it, or positively detrimental. Usually low quality and heavy.

Wisper are well recommended but out of your price range new. However, look at

Hi there

Thanks for your response - itd be for on road use in a flat area so doesn't need lots of assitance and I wouldn't be dragging it upstairs, on trains etc

Very favourable reviews from more than one site. 16" wheels (same as Brompton) are fine on-road. Ex-demo bikes may be a bit above your preferred price, but there's no harm in asking what's available.
