Hi....I think there is a loose wire in what I assume is a joint box on the handlebar stem of my Wisper.

I keep losing power but if I jiggle the main wire going into the bottom of this box I can get the power back.

What's 'gonna happen if I undo the four screws and open the box ?
Will I be able to tighten the connection ?

thanks.....Mike

This has happened on my wife's 705 SE and now has happened again as the power is intermittent. Have voiced my concerns regards the robustness of this connection before.

it is a weakness and cables are always appearing outside the box, I have tried gluing them at the feral and that has not worked either........ My earlier 905 has had no connection problems as it does not have this box:rolleyes:

Hi David....I opened the box....carefully.
I hoped to find simple screw connections but unfortunately nobody uses "simple" technology anymore.

All the wires are inserted into the connecters but not knowing how the connecters worked I was reluctant to take any action but when I jiggled the wires while trying to open the throttle...very difficult....the power cut in and out.
...this is where Jerry's stand would come in handy...LOL

I am pretty sure that a wire is loose or not making proper contact and if I knew what I was doing I think I could fix it but I don't want to have to sort out a dozen loose wires.

First of all...how does the connecter work?... could I replace this connecter with a small plastic joint connecter ? ...could I solder / glue the connections together ?

...any advice greatly appreciated.

....Mike

from memory. It is a kind of Din rail and all the sockets plug in to the top of this rail. they are 5 small white square plugs. which go of to the 2 x brakes 1x power split indicator 1x main power switch/battery indicator. and one with a white loop in it which is the de restrict switch (unless you have one fitted to your bike)

So if your problem is from a lead going to the handlebars (which mine is with the power one hopefully) its no big thing to change the lead and plug. Wisper will send you what you need I would think.....

but if it is in the main cable coming up into the bottom of din I'm afraid I have not needed to look at this and would think it is probably more involved. and someone else posted a while ago with problems wit this area as well....

personally hard wiring/soldering is something I would not get involved in particularly if bike still within warranty
