Hi all.

I'm looking to purchase a bike for my father in law around the £500 -£800 mark. He's 85 lives in South Norfolk so it's preety flat and max journey would be about 6/7 miles each way.
Theres seems to be a couple which will do the job most of which I have read comments about, however nothing to the best of my knowledge about Wooshbikes in Southend. The Elios at £525 seems like a bargain. Anybody have any experience of this brand?

Many thanks in advance.

I saw one at my local Decathlon for £500, don't know if its any good? You can have a look on line at it.
Seemed a bargain to me when i had a look at it, makes you wonder how you can get a bike, motor, battery and all controls for the price of a battery on others :(

I tried the decathlon ebike last week and I was really impressed. It had the highest acceleration I've experienced on an ebike. The pedelec system measures only the pedalling rate rather than torque ,so if you stay in a low gear and just twiddle the pedals you absolutely fly! I'm waiting for them to come back with a price for a new battery. In all respects I expect their technical back-up to be very good.

Please dont just 'expect' their technical back up to be very good.....my experience of this french company in spain was that they hadnt a clue about ebikes and even less interest in learning.
If you decide to buy an ebike from them , make enquiries first to confirm what happens if/when you get any problems......maybe they are better in the UK.....maybe not

Well, your dad has 10 years on me but I, at only 75, find the Dutch JuicyBike great - easy to ride especially with the advantage of a throttle for starting off without wobbling! Great at hill climbing and the round trip well within the battery's range. Price is right and build quality is good. Woth a look?
Best wishes,
Tom
