Nice job Miles, very neat and professional. Applying your own operating skills with that DualDrive usage should easily match the Swizzbee's drive for efficiency, and yours is neater anyway.

I like the restraint on the DualDrive of using only the sprockets necessary to give a sensible gear range.

This set-up seemed the best all-round compromise. The drag from the Sprague clutch is imperceptible - so you have a high quality bike with 10 gears and the option of using a 3 speed motor for hills..:D

The thing that put me off the Swizzbee approach was that the pedal gearing was dependent on the motor.. not helpful if you are switching the motor in and out.

I think so too Miles, anything which disturbs pedalling rhythm like that is undesirable. Clever it might be, but I think the Swizzbee overrated, some aspects of it's implementation not well thought through.

Yours looks altogether more interesting.
