It was a bit heavy on petrol. The 2.5 non-turbo diesel is my favourite. I've got the 2,5turbo diesel now and it's nowhere near as reliable.

Hi Cakey,

I'm not really sure why there is a delay in bringing the MPF drive to market. A gentleman well known in E-bike circles was beta testing an MPF powered machine early in 2012. He brought the machine down to Swindon for us to have a go on it....it was seriously powerful with the torque characteristics of a gas turbine. This due to the very high armature speed of the motor. If my memory serves correct, it was operating at 48v and delivering raw unrestricted assistance. Obviously, production machines will be tamed down considerably to preserve the machines drive-train. As you probably know, the drive is designed in Austria with production planned for Taiwan

Having sampled the performance, the next machine I purchase will be MPF driven, so I too have an interest in why the launch has been delayed.

This is the MPF powered machine I really liked, The "MountainDrive"

If I succeed in finding out more about the drive, and when it will go into production I will update this thread accordingly.

Regards
Bob

Looks neat enough ....but steel gears so noisy I suspect?

Go Pedelec! - The MPF middle motor drive system - YouTube

Lots of chat re latest green mover outlaw..seems to be the one to beat. Not to keen on looks but with go swiss drive and large battery I suspect it's lots of fun and im sure there is a dual suspension version. I would also try and demo the Panasonic hub drive system....KTM also have one, and have dropped the clean machine drive in favour of Bosch 350

Ok I want the elom full carbon 29'er..problem being they dont seem to have an active website as it just links you to you tube video..seeing as the bike video was loaded on you tube in August i just wonder what's going on..

have emailed MPF directly to find out if it possible to retrofit a throttle. and how to contact elom

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
according to this article the model Bob and Cakey probably interested in should have been available late December 2011...
E-LOM Electric Mountain Bike
and this review from eurobike 2011
"The penultimate discovery of the Eurobike exhibiton is the e-LOM, a superb electric cross bike, carefully designed while still in prototype phase. It is fitted with a motor that develops a maximum power of 250watts for a torque of 50Nm. Very well equipped with front and rear suspensions and disc-brakes, the e-LOM really stands out in terms of look and we like that!"
I just dont think these bikes made it to retail, at least not yet.
this one looked hopeful: 3-Element, as they have an operational website and large dealer network. but I went through about 7 links and not one bike shown....But they are at shows in 2013 presumably with nore concept bikes.....:(
espire Pure25: Third Element
Great looking bike, but how on earth is one supposed to ride under the radar with a name like that :p
remove the decals.....Green mover have a hell of a range of legal bikes as well. I like the copperhead and a few others, and I'm sure there is a dual suspension version pf the outlaw. Cakey is after a powerful off road dual suspension bike, hence the interest in the 500 watt 3rd element.
cant find copperhead video but this gives an idea..nice and quiet also
I emailed MPF and they have forwarded my inquiry to E-Lom.
have joined German pedelec and can now search the forum..not much info on there at all..... it seems they have been appearing at shows since 2011 and well received, but you look around for bikes and the e-lom 29'er full carbon dont seem to be out there.
these Swiss bikes are: a bit boring but motor is 50 Mn so 20% more powerful then bosch and battery charged in 2 hrs so at last a true competitor for Bosch (fingers crossed)
Yes, I know it says 50Nm on the 3 element site.
I asked MPF regards fitting a throttle (still waiting to hear from E-Lom). not sure how practical the option below would be
"Actually we don’t offer the possibility to fit a throttle. But the AF display Control Unit AF (advanced function) | MPF Drive offers the possibility of a so called bicycle push function. When activating this function the bike will accelerate up to 6kph. This to support the rider when the heavy e-bike needs to be pushed up an inclined plane.
This function could be programmed for higher speeds if customers might be interested. This could be a kind of throttle."
Sounds similar to Ebco and Solex bikes. You press a button on the display and you accelerate from standstill by pressing button on display. This is normally designed for getting away from traffic lights/starting off. Not sure how intuitive it would be on their bike compared to a traditional throttle.
Even if can be programmed for say 16 mph, without brake cut outs (crank drive dont have them) don't see it being practical in an emergency stop....prefer a thumb throttle/cruise control
