If the Govt are supposedly pushing for more electric vehicles / charging points....Why aren't there any public charging points and why cant the manufacturers produce smaller ''travel'' chargers for their bikes....on the basis that there seem to be the big three in the UK...Bosch, Yamaha, Shimano...it would have been a good idea to produce a universal travel charger ???? ( I am aware of the 12v travel charger but no good unless you have a 12v socket to plug it into )

I have been on a couple of long rides...took the battery off my wifes bike with me on one and on an overnight took my big charger but both are heavy and take up a lot of space in my ruck sack..

Any thoughts ??

Part of the problem with public charging points is the length of time it takes to charge an ebike battery.

In car chargers tend to take even longer because they cannot provide the rate of charge you get from the mains transformer in the house.

If you hard wired a 12v charger to the car's battery to enable the charger to carry more current, your next problem would be flattening the car's battery.

Bosch are looking at faster charging for ebikes.

The batteries on some of their garden and power tools can be recharged to 90 per cent of their capacity in less than an hour.

I read somewhere the latest Bosch batteries do charge faster from the mains than earlier ones.
