Only this afternoon 13.00 pm I went to my daughters and whilst unloading my car I heard a loud motor cycle noise and on looking up only to see two youths wearing black balaclavas ride past on the footpath who returned a couple of minutes later again on the footpath. Then a few minutes later I once again heard the motor cycle and saw the youths this time riding in the middle of the road. I watched them go past only to see a police car come in the opposite direction and pass within a few feet of them and take absolutely no notice of them not even a glance. I didn't expect to see a chase but at least some acknowledgement a second glance but no just cruised on by staring straight ahead. Police!

Strangely though, I'm in London and have cycled through most of my retirement for over 20 years, but have never owned a decent lock, just a flimsy cable one. On one occasion when I'd left the lock off the pedelec I "locked" it by winding a bungey cord around the frame and bike stand, hooking the end.

But I've never had bike or any bike part stolen or damaged and that includes three pedelecs costing between £850 and £1100 at the time. My only secret was not parking at regular places at the same regular times, giving the crooks no chance of anticipating and planning a theft.

I have had a few bikes stolen, one from my back yard, and never anything more special than last years mid range seller left in stock and priced to move.

Then again as a kid i would walk the dog where lots of bikes stolen in the city on a friday/saturday night would get dumped and many after 6 weeks were handed back to me as unclaimed by plod.. I'M still up by a couple, even though ive not spotted anything dumped for well over 50 yrs, I still keep looking tho..

Is this a way for the involved authorities to echo the anti-immigration feeling? Who is riding these things in Stockport, Doncaster, Bracknell, Ipswich, Widnes, Warrington, Manningtree, Lancaster, etc?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick and actually the riders are mainly indigenous scrotes?

There are more and more Sur-Rons and escooters in my area. Rozzers are targeting delivery riders and leaving these Sur-Ron and escooter dix alone. Is this the same Rapid Fatso with a different bike, or another Rapid Fatso? The fatso on the escooter was also rapid. How many Rapid Fatsos are there out there and why? I fear an ignominious fate squashed and suffocated by some ballistic Rapid Fatso or other. They're freaking everywhere!
