A couple of throttle no-load speed tests, still no evidence of pedal assist no-load speed tests being conducted by UK 'roid raging fuzz orificers.

This one is interesting. The first bike is obviously not legal. At 50 seconds he uses the power shown on the LCD3 to back up his assertion. As discussed before the LCD3 could cause an unnecessary roadside conversation.

It's all fine and dandy being right but you are dealing with someone that doesn't know what they are talking about.

Crossed with Sparksandbangs post

The first bike he looks at (which is obviously an illegal motor) he says' "you can tell it's a thousand watts" whilst pointing at the wattage shown on the display.
Oh dear, we are all in trouble. Trying to explain why that is wrong, at the roadside in a stop situation, would be a nightmare.
I'm starting to think
1 I want to get rid of watts display on my lcd3.
2 We all need to carry a printout of what the law actually says.
Of course arguing with a copper who is convinced he is right can get you in some deep doodoo.

I one spent half an hour in a discussion on an unrelated matter and it was painful even though I was in the right. In the end I was given 'words of advice' which I took to mean either you are right but I'm not going to admit it or I can't be bothered with you any more.

I've just amended the code in my modified Lishui controller project to divide the displayed power output of the LCD3 by 10. that should fool 'em.

I'm probably just being thick here, so please correct me if I am. I just did a back wheel in the air test on my bike with an LCD3 display. As expected, my motor (250w as it happens) will spin up to the set 15.5mph limit in PAS 5 and only show a maximum of 20 watts on the display. Given that it's not under load that's not surprising. So how did they get an indicated 1000-plus watts on the LCD3 in the video? There is no motor sound and clearly the bike isn't being ridden. Most of the police testing I've seen online involves just lifting the back wheel, so I can't see how that can get the display to show high wattage figures?

A 25A controller at 48V would give that from startup. The throttle is pressed as it is indicated at the bottom right of the display but strangely the speed doesn't go up. So you are right. there may be some skullduggery going on here to make the video.

You apply the brake at the same time.

There is no regulation on the size of the motor. Heinzmann, Bionx and Swiss Drive are all the same size as the one he pointed out, and they're completely legal.

Yes, I did think about that, but if you have brake cutouts the coppers can't do it that way. One of my bikes has a KT-TF01, which doesn't have a watts display. If this becomes a problem I suppose I could replace my others (KT-TF02 and LCD3) with TF01 or LCD05. I probably shouldn't worry about it too much. My main bike is fully compliant but the other two are 350w with 250w labels. All are set up with 4km/h max throttles unless pedalling. It really doesn't help when you see that a police "expert" still gets it wrong!

If one doesn't want plod to see a Watts reading then yes the answer is to fit another display which doesn't give the read out . LCD4 or LCD05. One could go basic with lcd 1 or 2.

All you need to do is know the law, stand your ground, and if they're completely full of themselves and don't listen, threaten them with a civil claim. Switch your phone on and record everything and ask them to switch on their bodycam too. Ay_audits on Youtube has dealing with the police down to a fine art. He carries all the laws and regulations in his rucksack in case of disputes. He was live-streaming at Epping the a couple of nights ago with 60,000 watching him live. He made £2000 in superchats plus all the money from ads and views. Not bad for one night's work, and he does it every night. See this one from 17:00:

Yet another good reason to record the entirety of all your bike rides with a camera on your helmet, like I do. If I'm ever stopped by the odious rampant fuzz orificer gang, you all will see it here in HD. At 960/s shutter speed too, so there will be no motion blur day or night. Might even catch the progress of taser barbs through the air and wires after being fired clearly, show my swatting them away with my Rinja skilled paws. HAI !!!

Rhyl: Males ‘de-arrested’ following public order incident
"A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “A large number of people had gathered on Maes y Gog, who were unhappy that these bikes were being seized. "
