I am after a 48v controller to replace my 36v one. Does anyone have a good suggestion?
I saw the progrmmable golden motor items which you can mess with by using a USB cable, does anyone have an experience with these?

Seems lots of the controllers are very expensive, i am happy to get one that limits the output to 15amps, since i assume this will just make the motor accelerate slower.

No first hand experience with programable controllers, however, I've read over on the ES forum it can be tricky to get working. My suggestion would be to drop Frank an email as he can supply controllers configured to your needs, his web site is below....

Google Translate

I'm thinking of doing this to replace my Alien controller as the ones Frank supply come with 3-way switching for assist....

I replaced my torq controller with one limited to 15 amps, although still capable of high speed with the wheel off the ground ,it had very limited climbing power compared to the original and even lacked power on the flat,i tried running it at 48 volts and that gave about the same performance as the original controller on the flat but it still lacked power on steeper hills.
