I've read that disc brakes are best for an ebike, but not.possible.with a 15yr old hybrid frame with v brakes. Brakes were reasonable, but I do carry lots of shopping and pull a trailer.

So got a set of Magura hydraulicPXL_20221015_160657499.jpg rim brakes, a bit of faff on eBay, the "complete set" wasn't but they gave me a decent refund which paid for brand new unboxed levers, also had to get a pair of brake booster arches to stop the frame and forks flexing. I fitted magnetic switches too, again sources off eBay at a reasonable price.

Having built them up from assorted bits I now know how they work and how to bleed them. I'm impressed with the light touch and the stopping power.

We have Magura HS33 on our tandem and they are superb. We've cycle toured with full camping kit in some very hilly places and their stopping power has never failed to impress.
