Hi everyone, I’ve just today taken delivery of a brand new e-bike for my 50th birthday and was very excited. The dealership set it up and delivered it to me and briefly ran through the functions. I’ve been out riding this afternoon and I must say I’m very disappointed. I can hear the motor is on but I can’t feel any difference at all between eco, tour, sport, turbo. I climbed a very small hill and didnt feel hardly any assist at all, no matter which gear I used and which mode I used either. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong or maybe it’s not set up correctly. I test rode several bikes and I am sure I remember more power assist than this but If this is normal I don’t really feel that this is the bike for me as it’s not helping me much at all. And I wouldnt fancy doing any hilly rides.

There is also a lever on the left handlebar - when pressed I can hear a noise but I can’t feel what it actually does and there nothing in the manual to explain this.

can anyone help or give advice before I return the bike.

Thanks so much in advance.

Before anything, lift each wheel off the ground and spin it by hand to check that they both spin freely.

Your bike's motor controller uses speed control, so each level on the LCD gives the same power up to a different speed. Let's say that level 1 has a speed limit of 8 mph and level 2 has 10 mph. If you start to pedal on level 1, you get maximum power that will bring you quickly up to 8 mph, then the power will cut, so you'd be pedalling without assistance at anything above that. If you then change to level 2, the bike will accelerate again until 10 mph, then the motor will cut in and out while it maintains that speed, and if you try to pedal any faster, 100% of the power will have to come from you. If on the other hand, you start on level 5, the pike should take you all the way to 15mph before the power cuts.

The bike is fairly powerful, so if you just leave it on level 5, it will always give you maximum power up to 15 mph as long as you're pedalling. Try that and report back what you find.

Is the connector disconnected along the inside of the chain stay? It connects the battery power to the motor. We have 2 wayfarers and even in eco mode they pick up speed well taking us to 15.5mph, the higher modes are even more impressive

Can I just check that you are turning on the battery by pressing the blue button on the battery itself. Then pressing the orange button on the top of the controller, then toggling the power modes by pressing up on the control into eco, sport, turbo etc.

Be very careful with the Wisper bikes; my battery caught fire, and I just uploaded the video yesterday. Wisper have just kept ignoring me about this.
