New to This

Hi There, although a keen cyclist for many years I gave up about 30 years ago. However I've recently been given a Powabyke, seems a basic model, stepthru, very heavy. It's laid unused & unloved in a garage for several years, i suspect with a flat battery.I've charged it up & the motor works (bit noisy), but there seems to be very little power when ridden, feel a slight assistance on the flat, but absolutely nothing on a hill & it's too heavy to pedal. I do weigh 100Kg but i'm wondering if the batterys had it. Is there anywhere to have it tested ?, I'm near Brighton & closest seems to be at Bodiam (about an hour). Is there a simple test for the battery I don't know about ?, don't have any manuals or documentation. Thanks for any help.
