Here is a video of eZee bikes climbing what is reputedly the steepest street in the world.
when you guys off to canton avenue in the US then? having been up both of them on motorbikes, canton is not only steeper, its way more challenging to ride too :)

But at 37% it's only 2% steeper and is only about 160 metres long. Baldwin Avenue in New Zealand with a 35% slope is very much longer.

i agree baldwin is longer, but the bit that is 35 is shorter than the bit thats 37.......if that makes sense

(canton is also slippery - not sure why, but i reckon an ebike would have a shot against a motorbike as its much harder to gun it on canton - or it was when i was there anyhow :) )

either way its an impressive feat...and a great video - i was just thinking there could be a series of the worlds steepest streets.

Yeh.....but no matter...it looks a much longer steeper haul in total, no matter what the length of the %'s are, I wouldnt mind having a go though....

I think John is being a bit lax here, he should take himself and his eZee bike off on a world tour of the steepest streets and just keep sending us back the videos......actually, I might offer to go along to do the filming ......these Galaxy phones have great video capabilities  .......your new S4 should be even better still John ;)

was chatting to my dad about this on the phone (had to call my parents, being accused of being a small green fruit good only for jam does this to me), and he reckons there is a a much steeper one in harlech, a quick google reveals there is but its unsuitable for motors...do we class as motors? anyone game for a 40 degree incline?

Steepest Road In The Uk, Harlech, Wales - YouTube

I'm game to tackle any of the steepest streets in the world, just so long as I specify which direction I take them at. :)

Well, there'll be times when no-one's looking!

I've got a steep one in my area which is an access only road that includes a bit of 33%, but I've been through it in both directions.

Mind you, I can talk, I think I am with flecc on this one ....going down is always better ......more dangerous with less effort !!

Lynda :)

PS....I dont know where John has got to whilst we are having fun on his thread .......maybe he is preparing his jam making equipment :p

I drove up that in the mid 90s. It certainly wasn't one way then, and the signage at the time said 1 in 2 1/2! There was some debate about whether a 2cv could get up it - I think the general consensus was that it wouldn't! I did it in a Citroen, but not my 2cv...

Saying that though, I wonder what the incline is of that ski-jump the Haibike , debateably, went up?
