Hi guys!!

I bought a used electric bike (must be 3 years old) 2 weeks ago and I have a question:
When I'm in high mode (only in this mode), I notice that the bike sometimes starts to fail, as if velocit slowed down for 1 second and then returned to normal again, with the battery still 50% charged. Does anyone know how to tell me what it can be? Is it more likely to be a battery problem? Or on the controller maybe? Or some other problem ... ??

There are quite a lot of possibilities for why your bike behaves like that. Start with the easy ones:

Check that the motor connector near the motor is all the way in to the marked line.

If that's not the problem, you have o look in the compartment at the front of the battery where the controller sits. you have to remove some screws to get in there. Check that all the connectors are tight, especially the motor and battery ones.

It seems to me that everything is right.

Can you show the motor connector from the side? it doesn't look like it's fully home in that photo, but it'd blurred and angled.

What happens to the battery indicator lights when it stutters? Do they go down or off, or do they hold steady?

Sorry, see if this image is better, please.

For example, the indicator has 4 lights, right? Suppose I am on a small climb and have only the first two lights on (the third and fourth are off). When this fault occurs, as I recall, the four lights come on during the fault and when I notice that the engine has returned to normal, again the third and fourth go out.

Ok, it's a problem between the controller and the motor, and not a problem between the battery and controller.

That motor connector still looks like it's not all the way in, but you've angled the photo again, now from the other direction. can't you show a photo at right angles, or better still, confirm that you've pushed it in until it reaches the line.

The other thing you can look at is the pedal sensor. Make sure that the gap between the magnet disc and the sensor is about 1mm and even throughout the rotation. Also, make sure that the magnet disc can't slip. Hold it lightly while you turn the crank. You shouldn't be able to stop it with light pressure.

Maybe I didn't understand, sorry! I am a layman in this matter.

Regarding the pedal sensor, I'm afraid to touch anything. I will probably take my bike to a specialist (Halfords or Decathlon).

They don't have specialists, and I doubt that either would be able to fix your problem, though you can always try. People that know about these things are very thin on the ground.

The motor connector is the thing under the frame where it says, "eco-power assisted".

Hey vfr400, now i understod and you were right. The connectors were not properly seated from what I noticed. Because I pressed more and heard a "crack". It looks now it dovetailed. Was that just the problem? I will test in a little while and tell you. Thank you very much.

I just tested it and it really looks like it has improved. Even the speed indicator seems to be showing more correct / real information. Thank you so much for your help.

Just read this and well done to Vfr 400 , for aiding in fixing which seems a simple fix

though so easily simple things can make us feel silly .
