Can't be certain about the roller brake but I doubt it, though the sprockets have been compatible on most models.

I preferred the SRAM P5 to the Nexus 4 and 7 models of old since the SRAM were tougher, but the Nexus gearchanges are always much slicker.

The SRAM P5 and S7 are now a bit long in the tooth and still with the very slow gearchanging so I'd now prefer one of the Nexus 8 hubs to those two. However, SRAM have a new i-motion 9 speed hub that's reckoned to be good, still a bit slower changing than the Nexus 8 but having a wider gear range.

Additional info is that SRAM hub gears were the old Sachs German gears before SRAM in the USA bought them, but the production remained in Germany. However, SRAM have now bowed to the inevitable and production is currently being moved to China.

I am not sure which era of Nexus hub gear you are replacing.

The latest version of the 8speed that accepts a roller brake is the Shimano SG-8R36. I came across this article recently, which shows very clearly the results of the improved seals that Shimano fitted to SG-8R36.

These improvements were carried through into the "Alfine" range which accepts a disc brake, but not a roller brake.

I have been very pleased with the SG-8R36 on the Kalkhoff bikes, having now ridden some 3,000 miles with them fitted to the Pro Connect and Agattu. However, I use rim brakes rather than using the roller brake facility.

In fairness, although I carry quite heavy loads, I usually cycle in good weather.

The package that Rose, Germany sell is very good value if you enjoy a twist shift rather than a lever shift, and want a 36 spoke hub.
The package includes hub gear, 8speed twist shift and cable, cassette, 19T sprocket (and non-rotation washers). The non-rotation washers might well be wrong for your dropouts, so you would need to check this.
