No Shunt

Why hasn't my ebike controller got a shunt?

If you give a bit more detail about the bike or conversion kit, in paticular the controller, somebody may be able to answer.

It does have a shunt (or 3). It's just that you haven't recognised it/them.

The compact controllers for integration with batteries don't use the traditional U shaped wire ones instead they use solid state ones (small flat black shunts).

That explains it. I suppose that they cannot be soldered?

Yes they can, but a slightly different and more predictable process.
