it uses simple pedal sensors.
The motor cuts out when you stop pedalling.

I can't see why not. It should be dead easy to put this system through EN15194 certification.
The pedal sensor acts like a torque sensor.
You clip them on your pedals, the sensors tell the wheel when there is a load on either pedals.
It'll take 30 minutes to convert a bike like they said.

But how does it differentiate quickly between pedalling and rolling as it is a front wheel?
Unless it detects acceleration but that would not work on hills as you are usually only maintaining or losing speed.

so not UK or EU legal then!!
Why would it be?

The wheel is to be sold in America.

Max speed 20mph also puts it on the naughty step over here.

pedal pressure is translated to throttle level with a minimum pressure to start the motor.

Yes it is in respect of the quoted subject. Brake cutouts are not necessary or required under EU law, and most e-bikes made in the EU and for the EU don't have them, the pedelec control is considered adequate.

Nor do those pedelecs have them in the UK market and the DfT permits them here and is in the process of adopting EU pedelec law. Notable examples are the Kalkhoff and Giant e-bikes.

isn't the Omni wheel the same as this (the Copenhagen wheel) :
https://www.superpedestrian.com/
(was kickstarter funded last year!)
- if not the exact same product, then definitely the same concept, except I thought the Copenhagen wheel was patented when I last checked!
