It has a 100W solar panel that they state will recharge the 48v 11Ah battery in 7 to 8 hours in bright sunshine. An optional larger 15Ah battery can be supplied.
Doing the math again: A 48V charger's max voltage is 54.6 V at 2 Amps normal charge that would require 109.2 Watts so you will be charging at 1.8 Amps (which is very good) so you will need +8 hours of VERY bright sunshine and 100% efficiency from the roof to charge from empty to full. If you are in Florida or Australia the Elf is the way to go, it will protect you from the sun all the while topping up the battery.

The Norwegian guy I mentioned above ran some aero tests on a model of the Elf:
"My Elf model takes 845 W aerodynamically at 40 km/h.
The Quest (D8ve's vélomobile) model takes 117 W."
That is because the wide open doors mean the frontal area of the Elf is doubled - front + back wall... That means you will be running quite a bit at full power just to do 40 km/h. For comparison a Twizy driven WOT at 45 km/h has a range of about 60 km. Twizy battery 6,1 kWh compared to Elfs .528 kWh

There is a guy who has a video of an Elf in the rain on YouTube where you see why a vélomobile needs a closed floor. And the Elf needs windscreen wipers to see out the front too...

In fine: buy a quest or other aerodynamic vélomobile, pack +5 kWh of battery (10 x 48 V 11 Ah) in, don't worry they fit, and add a BBSHD or other +1 kW mid motor with throttle and you too can drive over 60 km at 45 km/h. That is as illegal as riding a US spec Elf on the roads here in the EU but much more sexy and fun. Oh and bring spare rear tyres...
