What a great bike! Why don't the Japanese export their bikes?

They have done but have been too dear over here. Way back in 2003 50cycles imported the Panasonic "Will" folder and the Honda "Step Combo" folder. Both were great and sophisticated lithium batteried designs for back then and would still be modern now, but at around £1250 each 13 years ago, the public largely found them too expensive.

BIG IN Asia, JAPANESE makes about 100 different models of ebike. From Sanyo, Bridgestone, Panasonic, Yamaha, Honda research, Asahi, and Sansui. They have better components, such as Yamaha motor, and Panasonic battery as used in All Tesla electric Cars. At 900 to 1200 recharge cycle, if you have large capacity set at 50 miles range, then you have gotten 50,000 mile battery, at no more than 100 £ of electricity to recharge.

All are mostly made in Japan if they are ebike, rock solid. I think styling and body types are bit different. At least 30 models are exportable, The best is a 16 kg titanium hybrid/ road electric bike from Panasonic that you can custom order sizing and it takes a month at 5000 £. American models are stuck in America still only few models, European models are stuck with German, Dutch brands.

My other Kalkhoff ebike. Sahel e urban compact.

Overall GERMAN , JAPANESE, DUTCH ALL MAKE GREAT CYCLES. All price at 1500 to 2000 to start. Cheap, no, but worth every penny given how expensive it is now to make thing right, select proper marterial, and hire real engineers to make it and design it well for 10 to 20 years of use.

WHETHER they are aluminum, steel, or carbon. They go through so much engineering, design changes, frame design, styling, parts selection, and parts quality whether they make it or not. My preference is high end German Heisinger ebike, Haibike Carbon or better ebike from Yamaha, Bridgestone, and Shimano.
Someday the Chinese will be better, but now still cheap, awful, not functional, styling to shy from.
