Pedelec always on!

Just recently, the pedelec function on my bike has taken to being (usually) on all the time, instead of being governed by pedal revolutions. Fortunately, I fitted an off switch in the pedelec circuit some time ago, so I can turn it right off (otherwise it really would be a problem!), and I still have the throttle.

I have checked my wiring in the pedelec sensor on/off circuit, and all seems fine, so it would seem to be the sensor itself that is playing up.
What should I be looking for?

The most common thing is the mounting for the sensor bent or the magnet disc disturbed so the distance is too great for sensing. They need to be quite close.

I would suspect the sensor first, controller next. If the disk is too far from the pickup then PAS mode wouldn't work at all. The sensor is the cheaper option to swap out.
Check first for physical damage allowing a short, or, given the recent weather, water in the controller...

Good luck!
