This is a great forum. What about this for an idea to help new members like Tara who are starting out on that great ebike journey ...
1. Help choose a donor bike (Tara wants a trike. Not much we can do to help apart from encourage to go and try the various makes and models)
2. Suggest a kit supplier (Lets say that Tara goes for the Ezee kit)
3. Mobilise the "pedelec kit team" who will help get the job done on a volunteer basis. The PKT can provide whatever support is required including visits. The PKT dont all need to be experts. For example, I'd happily go down to Tara's and make sure all the required tools are available and the provide some muscle and take any telephone calls from anyone who has installed one of the kits ie.. piotrmacheta, etc ... or get the bike and kit from Tara and use my shed if Tara doesn't have a suitable work area .... or get the bike from Tara and .. he can shout instructions at me! ... or ...go to piotrmacheta's place ... there are lots of possibilities ...

I would have thought any LBS would enjoy the challenge of assembling a trike with an electric kit for a pretty lady?

Having said that, I'm sure there are members here who, if in reasonable proximity, would be happy to oblige in getting someone up and running with a first ebike/trike.

I would have thought that as well and I'm sure there are some that would. I've been in two small shops recently and they were both very negative. Even if you find someone who is keen its going to add to the cost ... what I'm suggesting will keep it down.

boo hoo

It's meeeeeee :D

Well I've been on the phone for about 40 mins today to a certain shop that sells electric trikes (and very nice they were) but even they said it's not going to be easy finding a trike for my circumstances.......

It has to be a narrow rear end trike (under 78cm, and really no more than 72cm max) so I found a couple that fit the bill (as mentioned on another thread) At the worst, I could leave the bike at the rear of the house shackled up, but if I'm spending decent money, I won't be happy to do this.

And then told the guy where I live......Torquay with its SEVEN hills.

It doesn't matter where you cycle here, you can't escape them. I've been a bit silly, just imagining a trip to the Post Office and local shops, BUT if I want to go into town, or to the beach, or even to Sainsburys on the outskirts, there's at least one mean hill to cover on the way home no matter what.

So.....The guy at the bike shop said that if I could afford it, to go for a 'Heinzmann 10Ah Conversion Kit' fitted onto a bike of my choice - apparantly this kit would get me up the hills, where the others would probably struggle.
This now means the proposed bike would go over the £2,000 mark (close to £2,200)

Owning an e-trike seems a long way off :(

Tara, you need to speak to Cycleeze. The Ezee kit will produce more hill climbing power than the over priced Heinz Ketchup kit and will save you some dosh.....

Hmmm.....pity there hadnt been a member of the PKT around when I had to walk six miles home pushing my punctured bike recently......not many knights in shining bloody armour around THAT night........

Will that mean the next time it happens I can just call up my local friendly neighbourhood PKT member ??.....great :D

Errr.....hang on...... am I mistaken....but arent we all living all over the country ?????

Sorry guys and gals,

Only just read this post. I am always available to help a needy damsel, and there is always the chance of damsel discount;) Don't any of you guys get the idea that cross dressing will win you any favours though:eek:

Seriously, if Tara wants help, advice and an eZee kit I am willing to help out, but Torquay is a bit of trek from Milton Keynes, as for the offer of discount, why not ask;)

My head is very confuddled now though about bloomin trikes, motors, and other associated things.....
(should I start a new thread?)
