Pedelec sensor question

It's a fairly standard looking metal circle with wire going to controller and a plastic disc with 5 magnets in it

2 questions for for those in k ow please

1) can I make my own replacement plastic disc (I have lots of small neo magnets from another project). Given my b bracket this will be easier than modifying what I've been sent in the kit

2) can I cut the metal loop to fit or does this break the circuit ?

Thanks as ever
K

Yes, you can cut the metal loop.
(Tony @woosh thinks that it may be easier also to cut the disc into halves and mount the two halves onto the chain wheel, that will keep the magnets straight in front of the sensor)

Funny thing with my kit - although the instructions all relate to fitting the sensor & disc to the chainwheel side, the ring on the sensor fitted my bike's left-hand side of the BB & the rotation arrows on the disc are correct for LH side too.

So I fitted it on the LH side
