Anyone actually riden both of the above bikes and able to offer some 1st hand experience of which bike offers better performance :

1) Up challenging hills of up to say 2 miles
2) On longer moderately hilly rides
3) in stop/start town driving

There is a huge price differential and I am asked to believe that the Tornado is the more powerful "on demand". Be interested to know if this is borne out by users' experiences as I really can't see it from the bike specs and there is no torque data (nM) I can find for either, no factual assist ratios in various modes of operation given for the Tornado and no assist curve charts / details of power available to the rider or any interaction with pedalling cadence in PAS mode for either bike.

The lack of any substantive useful technical information and power performance analysis makes a paper comparison virtually impossible to get a handle on. I'm not able to easily test bikes "side by side" so some unbiased thoughts from forum members would be welcomed.

Nobody's ridden the Kudos yet because it's not on sale 'til Spring. They have similar motors, so the performance should be similar, but it all comes down to how much current the controllers give, how they're programmed, and how much current the batteries can give. My research says that the Kudos battery can give 20.8 amps max. I've no idea what cells are in the Neo battery but the one that I rode felt like it was easily running at about 20 amps on full power, so maybe the same or Neo slightly more. It wouldn't surprise me if Kudos have copied what's in the Neo - battery cells and controller. Both have similar gearing and weight, so my guess is that you can expect the same performance in all circumstances.

The Kudos is loads cheaper, so I expect they'll sell like hot-cakes. I think I'd pay the extra £200 for the Arriba with the CST motor, which gives better gearing options, and hydraulic brakes

Very helpful - many thanks.. I'll certainly bear this in mind come Springtime ;) ... but if they aren't bringing the bikes to market until April that's a couple of months too late for me as I need another bike by beginning of March latest. Looks like a plan B will most probably be needed after all.
