Hi
Got my bike Ebco ucl 10 a few days ago. Entered fuse charged battery till green light etc
On my first ride the battery sparked when I changed gears. Was this because I changed gear stationary, am I meant to change gear when moving?
Also some glue had melted into the lock bit?!

Switch it off, remove the battery and return the bike and battery to the seller. When you get this sorted out ask for some instruction on using the bike which any proper bike shop should do. Operating gears in any way should not make a battery spark. Don't try to do anything else yourself, this needs expert investigation.

If we take you at face value, something is clearly wrong, but what you're saying doesn't make sense. How do you know the battery was sparking because it's behind you when riding the bike. Could you hear it, or what did you see? Was the battery properly locked into position?

What does "entered fuse" mean?

The seller will not take the bike back, it was brought as brand new. The battery needed the fuse to be inserted.
I was biking with someone and they saw it when I was stationary and changed gear.

That's probably just the grease that the factory put on to lubricate the lock.

Was it a sunny day, coz the glint from the sun as the gear mechanism moves across the cogs, could be mistaken for sparks.

Contact Ebco yourself, They may not be best pleased to hear of a Dealer refusing to help a new buyer.

Did you buy it from a bike shop? Or just off the internet? If from a bike shop and they won't help you name and shame them.

Are you sure it was new and not used?

Hi

Something does not sound correct we have sold lots of Ebco bikes and have never heard of that problem before. If there is is a fault then you should be able to get it repaired or relevant part replaced. A fuse does need to be inserted but this is normally done by the dealer as the battery will not work without it.

Good luck.

Hi,Dave, welcome back. Would the battery lock in and switch on, if not fully home ? Any possibility of a ground fault finding a return path via the chain ?
