Hi all,

I've just brought a powabyke off ebay, i believe it's a 5 speed euro. Can anyone tell me what colour the LED on the charger is when it's charging? At the moment it's on orange, which i saw somwhere it could mean it's not connected properly?

Many thanks.

my charger starts orange and the fan in the charger runs unitl it goes green for full, red is bad and it does do some strange things if there is a problem but orange should mean it is charging.

Hi, Can you get the model number of the charger, or better still could you post a picture of it?

Thanks for the replies :)

It stayed on the orange light all night, and didn't go green or anything... checked the voltage at a few points... one point it was 69, it then went up to 73 and peaked there. So... i'm assuming it charged ok, and it went ok today but not sure how charged it was before! It's been pretty battered and we had to rig up wiring for the charger as the previous owner had wrecked the connection bit. It's on charge now, so i guess i'll see tomorrow if it still goes lol. The charger does get warm, not sure if that means it's working lol. (Boyfriend been helping with this, i'm pretty clueless in all honesty!).

The model number is: wst 3612

Given its a 36 volt battery pack, how could the voltage read 60 or 73?

I have had a Powabyke like yours for several years and have had two of those chargers go on me. A pal had one also that "blew" after a while. The one I use now has been good and was bought off e-bay a couple of years ago.

Ok, that's an old charger, from memory orange means it's charging, then eventually it will go to green. For a full charge from empty it will take 6 hours, partial charges will be less.

The voltage is extremely high however. It should not ever exceed more than 42 volts. I wouldn't advise using that charger until you have taken it to your local Powabyke Dealer for a check over. I honestly think though that you will need a new charger.

Lol no idea, that's what it said

Went to check it when i'd come offline last night, and the light had gone green! Yay :D Dunno why it didn't before, maybe the charger is a bit dodgy.

Thanks for the replies :)

EDIT: Just seen the reply above, i will do that, thanks.
