A friend has a powabyke & the battery has failed through age (7 years old). I have a battery spot welder & would like to make a new battery pack for him as they retail at £339. I made one using cheap ebay batteries but they must not be able to handle the amperage, the bike requires. Could anyone recommend a good 18650 lithium battery that would be suitable ( make/suppliers ). Happy to listen to any advice /suggestions.

For cells buy from Holland, along with nickel, cell end insulators.

The best deal and cell you will get for the money, delivery is very cheap and arrives via DPD within 4 days.
Best bang for your £ at the mo is the Panasonic PF 18650 which is a true 10a rated cell and delivers the power.
Other slightly more dearer options are the Panasonic GA, LG MJ1.

For a 20a option LG HG2 & Samsung 30Q are pretty much identical in specs and operation.
Best cell for any money is the Sony VTC6.

What is the max load the controller draws this will help to decide on cells to buy and how many miles does he ride on a trip.
I would have thought any good 10a cell above in #2 would be more then ample.
