Hi all

a mate has got hold of a powabyke x24 2011 mode. It does have an intermittent fault which we think we have traced to the contoller.

I cant be 100% unless he delivers to me and lets me test it. Pretty sure I can have good stab at confirming/tracing fault

Having never played with one of these bikes does anyone know if an 8fun 250w controller would work as a replacement?

The possible issues I forsee are

1) The 8 fun is brushless and the poweabyke might be brushed if older model. I think the 2011 is brushlesss though

2) The 8fun has a switch on the LED handlebar which toggles PAS/Throttle. The powabyke might not have this (as i say not yet sen one!)

3) Connectors will no doubt be differnt but I'd just solder directly or replace them

any other insights folks ?

thanks, as ever

Kirstin

I'm fairly sure it's a brushed motor in all powabykes.

I think 2011 wqs about the time they changed over, so could be either.

If brushed, the throttle is only active when thepedals rotate in one key position: In the 2nd position the throttle becomes independant, but reverts to pedelec each time the bike stops. Horrible system. Takes several rotations to engage throttle again.

If brushless - you're on yer own.

Thanks jackhandy

The fault is it either works or just won't ! No rhyme or reason so originally thought is must be a wiring/connection fault

These have all been tested I'm told . I just thought if I could swap out the controller then the most complex bit of kit could either be the culprit or eliminated

Guess I need to get hold of bike myself

Thanks

A friend of mine has the X24 he had a problem with the key switch that would allow the bike to work or not, caused by bad contacts in the switch, a new switch solved the problem for a few months then that switch failed he now uses an on/off switch without a key, no problems at all now, hope this may help you.
