Have just suffered three punctures in space of ten days....all caused by blackthorns left at side of lane after tractor has cut hedges.
Can anyone suggest any more puncture resistent tyres......what sizes do I need and where do I go for best price ?
Many thanks

The Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres are the most puncture resistant of all, and I've used them for years. However, the one puncture I ever did get on one was from blackthorn, and there's no doubt those very long spikes are uniquely able to get through any bike tyre.

Those MPs would help a lot and avoid almost all other types of puncture, but the occasional blackthorn spike could still get through.

All Terrain Cycles are normally the cheapest for these expensive tyres. The size you want are 700c x 38 and the recommended price is now £29.99 each, All Terrain price £23.95:

Continental make a very close imitation of the Schwalbe MP with the same protection at a much lower price, £14.99 from here, their equivalent size is 700c x 37:

I'm running with GreenTires myself. They were a little harsh to begin with but soon became more comfortable. For the peace of mind of knowing i'll never spring a leak, there's nothing to beat them.

Prices

Hi Dazzie

We will be launching our new web site next week, all prices will be in the shop area. The old site is a bit out of date because so much time has been spent on the new one. We removed the prices because there has been so much currency fluctuation with the pound dropping from about 14RMB/£1 a few weeks ago to 10.16RMB/£1 this morning putting the cost of manufacturing the bikes up by about 25% .

We have done some hard negotiating with suppliers and as our purchases are up so dramatically this year the suppliers have worked with us, so we will not have to increase the prices so dramatically. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I wanted to be sure before I published prices again.

All the best David

Schwalbe Marathon + Punture

Last weekend I got a front wheel puncture in a M+ on my Torq. I had been shopping at Aldi and Tesco, when I arrived home the tyre was almost flat. On investigation, I found the classic, a drawing pin, it was just on the edge of the treaded area and not fully imbedded, but enough to make a tiny hole in the tube.

I am wondering if it could have been sabotage? When I came out of Tesco, there were a number of kids milling suspiciously around the bike racks, but I thought no more about it until I discovered the puncture.

This is the first puncture I have had on an M+ and was easily repaired without removing the wheel. However if it had been a Continental tyre which I also use, I could have got a free replacement tyre and tube.
