I have a Synergie Mistral which I haven't used for about 18 months. I charged the battery but the bike didn't seem to have any power so I charged it again overnight but only two green bars showed on the meter on the battery itself.

I then left it for a couple of weeks and tried charging again but this time no green bars are lighting up at all.

Does this mean the battery is useless, am I doing something incorrectly and does anyone know the cheapest sourcr for a replacement battery if necessary.

Hope some-one can help

oh no!

Thanks Frank, I was afraid that would be the case. Wish there had been some instructions on battery care when I bought the bike.

As to the charger, it has just one light which does change from red to green which I guess indicates a full charge but as I said the battery meter doesn't show that to be the case.

Lithium batteries need to be charged at least every three months, preferably more often. If it's stood uncharged for 18 months it will have died. In any case, that lithium type normally has around two years life, since the cells chemically age whether used or not, so it would probably have been around the end of life anyway.

I don't think there will be any cheaper source for a battery that fits in, but others may know of one that could be mounted on the carrier and the connections adapted.

Electric Bike Sales (Electric Transport Shop) will re-cell the existing casing for around £340. I have a three year-old Phylion which I will be having re-celled by them soon.

you could rip the old battery open and see if there are any cells that will charge, if there are then just buy replacements for the dead ones. which is what i have just had to do. but after 18months you might not find any.
