Anyone have experience with water ingress into handlebar control switch on a Kalkhhoff ProConnect / Agattu? We were out today and unusually got caught in the rain. (We're allowed to get wet but not the Kalkhoffs). My wife has a 2008 step thru ProConnect. When we returned to the bikes after lunch (they were outside getting wet) her handlebar controller showed no signs of life. I checked and dried out any water in the battery area but still no joy. However, after a few presses of the control button it lit up and worked. She switched it off and then it wouldn't work. Even changed battery with mine but still no joy. After about 20 minutes of cycling in the dry and a few presses of the on/off button it all came back to life and worked fine for the rest of the ride.

I'm assuming a bit of water got into the switch. Anyone had similar experience? Is there a little pcb in there? How easy is it to replace the switch if that is the fault?

Thanks in advance for any advice

It's much more likely to be water getting into the the multipin connector at the motor unit end or loss of connection there, since the handlebar unit is quite well sealed.

Take off the battery, dry out the pins thoroughly with a hairdryer, test again and if all is fine use some contralube on the pins to help protect connectivity in adverse conditions.
