On last Wednesday BBC Radio 4 had a half-hour cycling friendly program about the above. It's available on the BBC i-player for four more days yet on this link

Very thought provoking. I find it incredible that classification of injury is still done as 'Simple' (minor) and Serious. On the whole within the programme I think cyclists got off lightly over the issue of left turning HGVs:(

On our Redway cycle routes in Milton Keynes the rule is to ride on the left just as on the roads.
However a large number of cyclists ride on the right and just stay there when being approached by someone riding on the left.
I know some of them are from overseas, but I'm sure the majority are British and should know better.

Thanks Flecc. Interesting hearing from the Air ambulance about the frequency and severity of slow speed accidents - which is perhaps contrary to popular belief about cycling injuries / fatalities. Good to hear about changes to lorry's to reduce the chances of accidents, but emphasis must also be on educating cyclists to help eradicate reckless manoeuvres in order to reduce tragic life altering or fatal accidents in future.
