project torque first run and one prob

Well finished what I intended today got the bike up and running. No expense spared as can be seen by the pics

It uses a unknown frame with a 7 speed nexus hub and a torque set up the bits and pieces cobbled to fit and a powabyke battery as it has the water bottle mounts.

I took it for a spin all well till put into fast mode and fuse blew. Damn no fuse so did what you shold not but use to get me home hundreds of miles on my old BSA C15 and that was to wrap silver foil round the fuse and you dont get that on fag packets anymore, not that I smoke now.
It then went well in fast mode but the foil then melted and no more vroom.
I am using a old fuse holder out of a charger so need to source a decent one.

My question is what amp and type of fuse do these motors use and can I use car type spade fuse as I have a spare holder for them

Try a 25 amp fuse. Car ones are ok as long as they're insulated. You can get loads for £1 in the Pound Shop. I use Deans connectors and solder the car fuse directly to a short piece of wire, which is soldered to male and female Deans, so that if the fuse gives trouble, I can connect without it, or have a spare fuse on connectors ready to plug in. It's difficult to find a fuse-holder for 25+ amp fuses. It's good practice to always have a female on the live side, because exposed prongs can very easily touch something metal and short out.

Many thanks have now been up the road with a 30 amp fuse inline, pushed the 2 speed button and a mate followed me at 21 mph feels a bit like an ald bone shaker though at those speeds with a skinny 700 x 32 tyre at 80 psi. Next job waterproof the sparky bits for our loverly weather and a thumb or half throttle.

ps found some 30amp fuse holders in motor world I forgot I had they are for the car type spade fuses and clip together like.... um forgot the name but blue plastic with metal bit inside and you put 2 wire side by side and squeeze them shut and it makes a join.

Scotch Lock or snap/cable lock....not ideal IMHO as they damage the conductor when you squeeze them shut plus the wires have a habit of eventually breaking at that point of contact...Blue ones are rated for 15amps....

Thank you, Scothlok it was! I just found box again rated at 32 amps, as you say not the best but do for now till I have more time.
