Our market is nothing like as healthy as the Dutch and German ones, nor are other EU countries keeping up with those two.

A to B recently measured 13,000 annually now for the UK, excluding the intermittently available junk, and some UK industry estimates forecast around 20,000 in total for 2010.

So it is growing here, but not in anything like the dramatic way it has in the low countries. Probably related to the flat conditions, we've remarked before on how much more popular e-bikes seem to be in flat areas, though I tend to see it as how unpopular they are in the most hilly areas! :)

More in the UK than I thought.

It would be interesting to know the regional sales figures for the German market to see how they differ between the flat northern states and the hilly/mountainous south.

It wasn't far short of those figures as far back as 2003 and 4, but the content has changed. Back them the great bulk of sales was of low price Chinese "shopper" style bikes selling at around £300 to £400 each, one retailer alone hitting 7000 sold in a year and confidently forecasting an increase.

That market is much smaller now and a much larger proportion of the sales is of higher end e-bikes, one thing we do have in common with the Dutch and German markets where the market value has also climbed faster than the e-bike numbers sold.
