Whilst my battery is encased in aluminium, is there any advantage to be had in cold or hot weather in wrapping it up in something like Neoprene to stop it getting too cold in my garage or even too hot in the summer ?

Not during it's standing time in the garage, the cold or heat will gradually transfer in regardless, just slightly slowed.

There may be some slight advantage in keeping an already warm enough battery up to temperature for best performance during a ride in very cold weather, but no-one has proved that as far as I know.

It's probably not worth too much effort in these directions in our temperate UK climate, but our Norwegian members may be able to benefit a little from battery cladding in Winter.
