Hi all
Posting this in case anyone else has the same problem
I got a Motus - and hence Bosch Active Line mid drive system - about 3 years ago
some time ago it developed an annoying creak whenever I put power through the pedals - fine with just motor
The LBS had a look a few times whenI took it in for something else and fixed a few things that might be causing it - but it was not easily reproduce-able so it never got fixed
Anyway 2 weeks ago I had a small thing needing looking at so decided to get the LBS to have another look
and - critically - it had got worse by now. Not louder just more frequent so that it happened every time I pressed on the left pedal - right was fine just the left
Well I left it with him for a day and he took the whole thing apart as far as he could and regreased every bolt and screw and whatever
When I went to pick it up he was uncertain and asked me to try it - I generated the creak in the shop - which is only small
Turns out that in order to access the actual motor area you need some unusual tools
not downright weird and Bosch specific but just not something he normally needed
(actually he had needed some a couple of time but his mechanic had some at home and they used them for the couple of times they needed they - but the mechanic is not longer around)
anyway he got the new tools and had another go - still creaked
so I left it with him while I went away on holiday for a week
apparently they took the whole motor section apart - which was full of dust in spite of being sealed - and regreased the bolts
still creaked
Not sure of the exact details - but they ended up taking ALL the bolts totally out of the bike, including the ones holding the motor in place, and totally regreased the bolts and the sockets etc etc etc
basically greased evrything they could get at
which fixed it.
so - TLDR - if you Raleigh Motus is creaking under power from the pedals the bolts all over the motor/bottom bracket area might need a total going over with grease
may also apply to other Bosch systems I suppose
