re-posting here: Charge points scheme.

(Hi All, Posted this in another thread and thought it might be better here:)

Hi All,
We hire electric bikes in Penrith and have come up with the idea of getting local business's to act as free charge points. We have quite a few already, but the more the better.
Obviously this often leads to the cyclist using said facilities for refreshments or whatever.
So we were wondering if there are any café's pubs or tourist attractions out there in the north lakes area that would like to get on-board?
If you have any suggestions for good spots please let us know.
Cheers,

Hi and welcome to the forum, you may not recall but I paid you a visit last year.

You may also remember that we spoke on Thursday and I was in Penrith on Saturday, but didn't have the time to pop in, maybe next time I am up there.

You might be interested in joining Cycle Charge CycleCharge | Charge on the move to help spread the word;)

Regards,

Hi John,
It would be good to see you. You must have met Richard or Adam last year, my names Pete and I run the shop in Penrith for Richard and Adam. The coffee pot is always ready for visitors so come and have a chat.

Thanks for the charge point link. I'll have to have a word with them and see if we can get our network included as It is quite extensive now.

Hi Pete,

Yes, I did meet Richard and Adam last year for a chat.

To be honest, it was not easy to find and I went to school in Penrith, many, many years ago:eek:

Hi Pete,

I am the co ordinator for CycleCharge and if your chargepoints are happy to join our scheme too, then that would be great.
We are a non profit making initiative, financed by donations, and set up for the benefit of all electric bike owners around the country.
Just ask them to use the link on the site to register and we will send them their sticker to display. :)

Lynda :)

If you are setting a system up for your hire customers you should really be looking at the official Tourist Board scheme, I think it was set up in the Lakes last year and its being extended to the Wall this year. If you PM me I can give you the guys email addy.

Hi there, I'm the scheme manager for CycleCharge and have exchanged a couple of e-mails with you...I agree with Lynda I think that it would be better if your charge points joined the CycleCharge scheme and displayed the sticker so people can find them easier..

We could mention on their directory listings that they allow bike hiring for you and identify them as belonging to the Electrical Bicycle Network.

If your charge points don't want to join our scheme for some reason (it's free to join and there's no obligations on them) then we could add your charge points to our directory as non-CycleCharge points if they are willing to allow the general public to charge, not just bike hire customers. If you can clarify this, then I'll sort something out.

As you said, you have an extensive network already and ours is growing too (50 already) and is likely to move into areas where you operate..so it makes sense for us to work together and list you on our directory if your charge points is open to anyone.

Let us know what you think? :)
