Rear Disc retrofit - should I Bother?

I recently came off my bike (and broke a wrist) and one of the reasons was a lack of brake power.
I have a converted Dawes and it has disc fitments on the rear but a non disc rear wheel.
The front conversely has my 8 fun hub motor with disc fittings but a standard fork without calliper fittings!

Two questions - which 'end' is the most cost effective to convert - I can't seem to find disc compatible rear wheels for anything less than a the cost of a full bike but 700c forks aren't that cheap either.

Do I bother at all?

if they will fit, Magura rim brakes are worth considering (HS11 or HS33). I've been using them for just over a year and found them to be a very worthwhile upgrade.

I wouldn't personally bother with just the rear. The rear brake doesn't do much slowing down, the bulk of that is done by the front. Having a hydro rear disc on the rear and cable v brake on the front would probably be more dangerous, as it would lock the rear wheel easily in comparison to the front. I second Tilson and say go for Magura rim brakes.

The major advantage of discs is that you have no rim wear and they don't clog in mud, so they would be fine unless you are knocking out mileage that would make the starship enterprise look like a runaround, or haring down muddy mouontain single track!
