Registering an electric bike in NI

Hi folks, I've not long moved to Belfast and thought I would get out of the van and on to an electric bike whenever possible. However, I've discovered that Northern Ireland has it's own special laws for electric bikes, just as it does for dog licences, MOTs for classic motorcycles, and I daresay some other things that I haven't found out about yet. So I decided to register the bike and do it all properly... I'll post under a suitable thread and try to keep you informed of progress with the DVLA.
