Dear members,

Some of you may wonder what to do when your battery comes to the end of its life (apart from a funeral)? or may be what it would be like to extend the range of your bike with a new 15AH?
So this is a simple idea, how about buying a new lipo pack and solder it into the old case?
The new pack has of course built-in BMS, you only have to attach 4 wires: 2 for power out and 2 for charging socket.

I can think of many advantages:

1. lower cost
2. lighter (4kgs)
3. easy to do - under 15 minutes

We could offer them at around £250 for 36V 15AH, these packs will be assembled in Southend.
Please visit my battery page and share your thoughts

Regards

PS: eddieo, we've moved up! I don't have to lug around lead acid batteries around anymore!

I've just had a quick look at your batteries, great prices but notice in the Q&A that for bikes other than Whoosh bikes you don't offer any warranty.
Is this correct?

Dear Kirstin,

We can use Samsung, Headway or GEB cells.
It's just as easy to do with one brand or the other.
I will need to check with Panasonic for their view on 'gray import' of their cells.
At present, we are only dealing with Chinese cell manufacturers.

Dear Tinker,

We should be able to offer one year guarantee on these packs.

Dear neptune,

Yes, you are right but if you move from lead acid or iron phosphate to lipo, you'll need the lipo 2A charger (£20 if bought with the lipo brick).

@Hatti. That sounds very reasonable. Let me tell you what would be useful. Suppose a battery fails after the guarantee expires. Often, it could be just one cell that fails, or a fault in the BMS. If you could service/repair a battery at that point, you will attract a lot of custom.

Dear neptune,

One thing that motivates us to do assembly in Southend: we can make things easier to repair.
The Chinese often make things so difficult to fix that you have to throw the whole kit in the bin because one bit of plastic has broken or a small part has failed.

Regards
