Hello,

First post here.

I have a Powacycle Salisbury LPX, and have found that it needs a new battery. I looked on their website and found that the replacement battery (LiPol 26V 10.5Ah) for this bike costs £300. I have no knowledge of electronics, and I would like to ask, does this bike need to have this exact battery in order to work, or can I buy a cheaper battery from elsewhere with similar specifications? What about if I bought a 24V 10Ah lithium battery on ebay, which I believe I can get for as little as £100? Would that work with this bike?

Thanks.

The Salisbury's power demands are modest so any e-bike suitable 24/26 volt lithium battery will be ok. You'll need to arrange the battery connections from wherever you mount the battery, getting the polarity right. Also, since the on/off switch is integral in the Powacycle battery, you'll need to buy and fit a suitable 15 amp DC isolating switch in the positive battery feed and mount it somewhere.

So not quite as straightforward as it might have first seemed.
