Having problems trying to locate a original or compatible 5 wire thumb throttle control for my izip based bike,,, was fine on the journey to work today but when I got to the staff car park, power cut out completely and on examination of the control,it looks like the spring thats fitted internally has either snapped
or has come away from the switch- also there appears to be something loose in the throttle housing- looks like a small curved piece of metal,, would that be the magnet ???
The kit is the same as used on ezip/izip 450watt units...

Yes, that curved piece of metal is the magnet, it rotates past the Hall sensor and the changing magnetic field alters it's signal current to the controller.

The Hall sensor only has three wires, the other two will be for something else like lights, or not used.

I don't know a source offhand, but an Izip dealer should be able to order one from the UK Izip distributor Moore Large. They don't deal direct with the public, but you can find your nearest Izip dealer through this site.

There will be others around since they all work the same way, but the connectors and wiring colour codes could be different then.

Flecc:Thanks for that !!- just got back from the in-laws (!) so will see if I can have a better look at it tomorrow and maybe try and repair it- failing that ,will probably just get a new one and be done with it..

Nice price but I need one by Monday for work !!!
Nearest shop that caters for ebikes near me would be The electric transport shop in N7 or 50 cycles in Richmond,, if as you say I would only require 3 wires to work, I could maybe splice in another controller and do without the battery lights( which don't really mean much anyway)- the thumb controller seems to be basically either on or off.

the thumb controller seems to be basically either on or off.
All the Hall sensor throttles behave a bit that way. They are supposed to be progressive, but the non-linearity of the magnetic fields at the magnet ends mean that the field strength preferential bias from one end to the other tends to occur abruptly around the centre point of the arc.
