this has probably been brought up before but I would like to know if anyone has retro fit lighting to their Bosch equipped Ebike ?

I'm carrying a large power source around with me yet have separate rechargeable - easily removed by thieves - lights

Any ideas ?

There must be a wire in the controller somewhere to plug into. The mounting instructions are probably pretty thorough (German and not Chinese...)

Once you've fitted the correct wiring from the Bosch DU to the light fittings, you need to "enable the light switch" via the diagnostic tool/software. Fairly painless process.

Just found these - would they fit to a Bosch ?

Don't jump into buying these without checking.

They may not all be compatiable with wiring IN to the Bosch system.

I'm failry sure that I've read that in Germany the lights have to be powered by a separate power source, i.e NOT wired into the main battery & this is why the light switch on Bosch bikes is deactivated by default. It is possible to have this activated by a dealer, presumably for use outside Germany. It doesn't however necessarily follow that the lights you have linked to will wire into the Bosch system.

Looking at the manual it says things like:-
E3 E-BIKE MINI > The light can be powered with 4-10 Volt direct current (DC).
COMPATIBILITY E3 TAIL LIGHTS
COMPATIBILITY We recommend any 6 V dynamo hubs with 3 W power output.

so it's worth checking that the specific lights you want will wire in, in the way you want them to.

The Bosch system is fitted to many bikes that don't have lights is the main reason I think. The German law saying that lights had to have a separate power source dates a bit, I think it has been changed otherwise the big name manufacturers wouldn't be wiring their lights in... Many companies have carried on with providing hub dynamos especially on trekking bikes.

To be road legal there has to be an approval marking. Supernova and b+m are German companies and they don't muck about when it comes to getting there products approved.

If you are in a night time accident and a victim says you blinded them it will be treated just as harshly as any dongle or other over powered problem.
