Yes, fixing the speed sensor will stop it switching off mid ride.

The programming is set in the firmware.

Eventually you may see an error code but if it keeps switching off every 5 mins riding will become tedious.

As long as it has the same connectors as on my ebike I would think it’s ok or not

Yes.
Most use the 9 pin Julet waterproof connector which use a std pin layout.

It is a bit extreme as a new hub and then the cost of getting it laced/trued up Vs a rather simple speed sensor fix that will only need a bit of time and about £15 to repair.

Just tried to get motor open and I couldnt. Feel like this is a lost cause. Someone was coming today but has let me down.

With a screwdriver to get the screws out.

On the brake side one has to undo the inner axle nut so that the motor unit with axle can slide out from the RHS.

I just want to open the cover. But the screws are not easy.

The cover comes off with the motor and axle attached, the magnet housing will be on the peripheral edge of the inner side of the cover.

Ok. But I can’t actually get the screws out. May be the screw drivers I am using could be the problem.
