Seat Post Clamps

I have broken the seat post clamp on my Pro Connect. My fault!

I am ordering a new one and need to know the size. The seat post is 28.6mm diameter and the frame diameter is 35.7 mm. When a retailer specifies a clamp size on their website, which are they referring to? Seat post or frame?

Logic would suggest frame but I just want to make sure before ordering.

Thanks

Tom

It is normally the frame tube measurement at the clamp mounting point as you thought Tom. Your frame material is quite thick there, it's not so common to have quite that size difference.

Thank you flecc. I over tightened the original and stripped the thread. Must be more careful next time.

That could be due to that rather thick frame material, bikes like that do often need much more force to clamp in the frame and stop the seat tube slipping.

Best aim for a robust clamp this time.
